 Bitten - a True Blood convention
"Bitten" is a 3-day U.K. unofficial convention to celebrate the HBO television series "True Blood" (based on the best-selling novel series 'The Southern Vampire Mysteries' by Charlaine Harris). This event will be held from Friday 6th - Sunday 8th of August 2010. This unofficial convention aims to bring together fans of the series and books to enjoy various events over the weekend.
There will be activities each day from guest talks and photograph sessions to quizzes and late night parties. For more information on these, check out the events section. Special guests of honor include Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte, Sookie's boss) and Kristin Bauer (vampire Pam).
"Bitten" takes place at The Park Inn in Northampton, England. For more information on this venue and room rates see the venue page. Registration will begin at 2pm and the Opening Ceremony will be at 7pm on the Friday evening.
The event is presented by Massive Events Ltd., run by Mark Woollard and Jason Joiner. Having run smaller events for years before, including the UK’s first-ever ‘Star Wars’ convention, in 2002 the partners formed the company Showmasters Ltd. in order to run the now famous ‘Collectormania’ event in Milton Keynes. This will be their first "True Blood" convention.

What do you get when you put over 100 rock stars in one hotel? That sounds like the set-up for a punch-line to a joke, but it's a question that will get an answer for the first time in history when "ROCK CON: Weekend of 100 Rock Stars" finally comes together THIS WEEKEND at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel Conference Center in East Rutherford, NJ.
The Summer's most anticipated festival for music fans and collectors will draw thousands of attendees who will meet, enjoy concerts by, listen to interviews with, and actually hang out with musicians, singers, pop personalities and rock icons from all eras of rock & roll. Along with the live concert performances, meet & greets, and question & answer sessions, there will be panel discussions, rare film screenings, photo ops, a music & memorabliia marketplace, and much more.
The seemingly endless guest list represents 50 years of great music and memories, and THERE WILL BE CONCERTS EVERY DAY! New guests added include Denny Laine (Wings, Moody Blues) and Jimi Hendrix' percussionist Woodstock, Juma Sultan. They join such artists as Johnny Winter, Little Anthony, Beach Boys Founding Member Al Jardine, Tommy James, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, Randy Jones of The Village People, Marty Balin of Jefferson Starship, Gene Cornish of The Rascals, Paul Cotton of Poco, Andy Kim, Billy Hinsche of Dino Desi & Billy, Walter Egan, Phil "Fang" Volk of Paul Revere & The Raiders, STARZ, John Ford Coley, Stories, Spanky & Our Gang, Paul Petersen, Mary Weiss, Ron Dante of The Archies and many more -- too many to mention here - but they're all on the website!.
Although most of the guest artists will be present the entire weekend, there is a different schedule of events planned for all three days. The highlight of each evening is expected to be the last two hours of the event, when all the stars get to sing or play their hits - and jam on the songs of their fellow singers and musicians - in the hotel's Grand Ballroom Main Stage. Additionally, Friday night will feature the National Rock Icon Awards Ceremony Presentations (the RCIA's), which will not only honor the legends, acknowledge music accomplishments, but also recognize fan favorites.
Themes for the Weekend include "LENNON LEGACY," with special guests from The Beatles' history, "ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAMERS," "THE GREAT GIRL GROUPS REUNION," "HORROR ROCKERS REUNION" the "BUBBLEGUM REUNION" and the "AMERICAN IDOLS REUNION" with Antonella Barba and others.

INVITE FILMMAKERS TO SUBMIT SHORT FILMS FOR THE
“HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS – ROB ZOMBIE FILM COMPETITION”
Universal City, Ca -- Universal Studios HollywoodSM and Rob Zombie are partnering to recognize the nation’s top short-form filmmaking horror genre talent with the “Halloween Horror Nights- Rob Zombie Film Competition,” offering filmmakers an opportunity to have their scariest short film judged by a panel led by the multi-media horror auteur, rewarded with a premiere showing on Chiller, a posting on Syfy.com, a $1,000 cash prize and a trip for two to the opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Contest entries will be accepted from July 7 through August 14, 2010. Prospective filmmakers are invited to submit short films from 90 seconds to three minutes in length on DVD (two copies of each film must be submitted). Selected films will be judged by Rob Zombie, members of Universal Studios Hollywood’s “Halloween Horror Nights” team and horror industry professionals. Criteria will be storytelling skill, originality and the degree of a “good scare.” The top 10 shorts will be posted online at Halloween Horror Nights from September 3 – 17, 2010 for public voting.
The winning film will be announced on September 17. In addition to the prize and the broadcast of the film, the winning filmmaker will be honored in front of celebrities, studio executives and media at the Eyegore Awards ceremony, which will kick off the 2010 Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Entries should be sent to “Halloween Horror Nights-Rob Zombie Film Competition,” 100 Universal City Plaza, Building 5511, 100 Universal City CA 91608. About the Author
Jeffrey Wilson has at one time worked as an actor, a firefighter, a paramedic, a jet pilot, a diving instructor, a Naval Officer, and a Vascular and Trauma Surgeon. He also served two tours in Iraq as a combat surgeon with both the Marines and with a Joint Special Operations Task Force. He has written dozens of short stories, won a few fiction competitions, and participated in the National Endowment for the Arts “Operation Homecoming” collection. His short story “Calling Home” was selected as a featured story at Storylink.com. This is his first published novel. Jeff and his wife, Wendy, are Virginia natives who, with children Emma, Jack, and Connor, call Tampa, Florida home. When not working as a VA surgeon or chasing his three kids, Jeff is hard at work on his next novel.

Wild Eye Releasing and MVD Visual are releasing "Night Of The Living Dead: Reanimated for North American distribution on July 27. Universal City, CA -- “King Kong 360 3-D” created by Peter Jackson, the world's largest most intense 3D experience, made its debut today on the famed Universal Studios HollywoodSM Studio Tour, combining a ground-breaking use of Surround Digital 3D film and thrilling visceral effects to create a next-generation theme park experience.
The world premiere of the attraction featured a star-studded guest list and an innovative “3D press briefing” by the attraction’s creator, Peter Jackson. “King Kong 360 3-D” is the first theme park attraction to be directed by the three-time Oscar®-winning storyteller and filmmaker.
In the new attraction, guests aboard Studio Tour trams are given special 3-D glasses as they enter an enormous soundstage larger than a football field. Once inside, the trams are enveloped within enormous screens, their size equaling an area equivalent to 16 conventional movie screens and rest atop steel platens that provide a powerful motion base. Via the magic of Surround Digital 3D projection, guests are transported deep into a tangled jungle location. There, they survive a close encounter with a swarm of hungry raptors, only to be confronted by the terrifying presence of 35' tall dinosaurs. Suddenly, the 25' tall Kong gorilla appears. The trams roll and shudder as the guests find themselves caught in the middle of a titanic struggle between the great ape and carnivorous reptiles.
The enormous scale and the cutting edge technology employed by the designers elevate the powerful, iconic storyline to a new level. The vivid realism of the 3D immersion and the synchronized motion of the tram combine to produce a sense of immersion without precedent in a theme park attraction.

Normally, when patients die in a nursing home, it is because of mental or physical health conditions. At Rigg’s Nursing Home, there may be some other causes of death. The real mystery isn’t how the patients are dying, but how the staff are dying. Who or what could it be?
The Nursing Home is sure to satisfy readers of all ages. The likeable characters range from teenagers to the middle-aged to senior citizens. It’s not only easy to read, but easy to relate to. The themes consist of meeting new people, the question of who you can and can not trust, and last, but not least, revenge. The groups of characters include a small bunch elderly patients; a clique of trouble-making staff members; teenagers who just met and want to have good time; and two cops: one who has been on the force for two decades and one who is just starting out.

Along the way, there's an exploration of the Snagov Monastery ("Tomb of Dracula") along with the Transylvanian Castle of Bran, a fortress built in 1377 and preserved as national monument. And that's just the sightseeing part of the trip. Evenings are filled with howling parties, witch trials, bonfires and surprises. There'll be more head-turning than in an Exorcist movie!

Ghost Hunting Event at Lizzie Borden's B&B |

The Lizzie Borden House in Fall River, Massachusetts will be the site for a Ghost Hunter University 102 seminar conducted by Christopher Moon along with his new and never-before-seen Spirit Communication class at on Friday, June 25th and Saturday, June 26th. It is a 2-part event delving deeper into the paranormal, as Shadow People, demons, and elementals will all be discussed. How to interpret EVP is also a focus during this seminar. Following the seminar, dinner is served to attendees, and includes a haunted history lesson and tour of the Lizzie Borden house. The highlight of the evening is the interactive paranormal investigation of the property which follows, and the night is completed with an evidence-sharing and wrap-up session after the investigation.

Each time, something unique occurs. “On a previous visit, by far the most incredible thing was digitally capturing Andrew Borden in the midst of forming into a full-body apparition. We have an amazing photograph of his face while he was appearing.” he says.

Sources are telling Bloody Disgusting that the teaser trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 will debut next Wednesday in front of Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which would also mean an online debut next week as well (typically). In addition, contrary to reports online, we're also hearing Paranormal Activity won't have a presence at the San Diego Comic Con next month. Paramount refused to comment. Kip Williams (Tod Williams) directs the sequel to Paramount's smash hit that's penned by Michael R. Perry. It will go toe-to-toe with Saw 3D on October 22. It will the battle to end all. There can only be one?

recreation and raunchy free love. At once a western, a comedy, a nudie, a
drama and a musical - GOLD is a profound potpourri made in the spirit of
