When dressing up for filmmaking, here are some rules and tips for you to remain comfortable while focusing on doing your job right.

Be practical and dress up for the right reason. In cinematography or filmmaking, work on set can be hard so make sure you are dressed appropriately for the job. Wear something durable and comfortable that lets you move freely since getting the perfect shot for the film may require you to get your hands, feet, and clothes dirty.

Choose dark-colored garments. When working on set, it is advisable to wear dark-colored outfits since wearing white or bright colors can let unwanted reflection of light on the scene being filmed particularly when you work beside or close the camera. To avoid being an unwanted reflector, wear dark colored garments.

Hats can come in handy so it’s a good idea to always carry one with you. Why? In cinematography, there are situations wherein you may be filming under the sun for hours. Include a sunglass as well to shade your eyes. It’s best to be prepared.

When filming a scene, consider the location and time of the day. Will you be filming indoors or outdoors? Will it be cold or warm? Sunny, rainy, or windy? Knowing where you will be shooting or filming and the weather will give you a heads up on what to wear or at least again to prepare the garments or clothing that you will be needing.

It is important to wear sturdy yet comfortable shoes that hold your feet well. Avoid wearing slippers or sandals. Why wear a closed-toe and comfortable footwear: One, it will keep your feet comfortable as specifically if you have to stand all day. Two, you safeguard your feet from things that might fall on it. Three, comfortable shoes permit you to move freely and briskly.

You can still show up at work in style as long as you consider the above mentioned. Do not compromise comfort for style. You can end up not being focused on your task just because your outfit makes you uncomfortable and uneasy. Learn to balance style and comfort.
