THE HORROR-WEB STAFF
Horror is not a new genre, it spans the centuries as tales to entice behavior, irrational fears, a shocking reality, or a form of entertainment to deal with all of the above. Horror is meant to cause fear. That fear is connected to adrenaline and reminds you that you are alive. It is that adrenaline that spurs horror and Horror-Web. It is that adrenaline that we are addicted to! In essence, horror is what breaks us down to the bare minimum of a human being, reminds us that life is fragile, and makes us wonder what's lurking in the dark - or standing in the plain light of day... THIS is why we have created and maintain the HorrorWeb - where normal is relative and your nightmares are real!

Horror-Web is not just about one person, one person's ideas, feelings, love of the genre, or desire to share with the world... Horror-Web is a hub for ALL lovers of the genre, and as such takes several to make it work! More than just members, our staff are actively involved members that take part in creating, maintaining, information gathering, and brainstorming behind the scenes! So come on in, here is where you will find the gore behind the Horror-Web...

Once upon a time there was a tiny wench of a girl, a tomboy really. At the tender age of 6 she brought home Frankenstein from the school library and fell in love. With the monster? No. With the idea that fear and innocence could intermingle so well in story telling! From there, she delved into horror of all kinds and was amazed that her interest could be fed by so many venues. Vivid memories would include her first tastes of Lovecraft & Poe, and watching 'Night Owl Theater' at Grandma's house. Then there was the 'night HE came home' and she chose to stay home rather than go trick-or-treating, because 'Halloween' was on television. and she sold her soul to the dark wonders of the horror genre. Her mother looked on with a furrowed brow and worried tone. "It is a phase," her mother said. "Everyone has the 'horror phase' and you'll get over it..." This same woman brought the girl to see Jaws in the theater when she was just six years old, and the Wench now delights in reminding her mother that she was partially responsible for spawning this 'creature who has an insatiable love for the dead' and laughs as the next generation grabs hold to the genre as well...

Bloody MonkeyZ [JimmyZ]

regarding: Owner, Webmaster, Book Reviews, PR, Advertising, Interviews, Special Guest Chats, Conventions, and First Contact

Horror has always been part of my life. I have flitted around the edges of the small press horror community for the last 10 years. At one point I was part of a writers critique group. Much of my time has been spent with the desire to become a writer, yet day to day life has constantly gotten in the way of such aspirations. After my first taste of a World Horror Convention though, I knew there was no looking back for me. Two years ago I quit my day job favoring the creativity and enjoyment of self employment over stability and a paycheck. Wait...Aw crap. Well, money can't buy happiness anyway. And my newly found self employment has allowed me to become the shirt guy for WHC as well as several other conventions. If I keep that up, I may just have some money to go with my happiness. Taking the helm of Horror-Web seemed like a natural progression for me. A way to increase my knowledge and exposure within the community and I get a whole new place to make shirts and play! It even comes with instant friends. YAY!

Absinthe [Tamara]
regarding: News & Rumors [general], and Serial Killers

"I grew up watching classic monsters and my younger brothers and I spent many hours late Saturday nights being terrorized by Shock theater. What a thrill! Halloween has always been my favorite season of the year, and I prepare weeks before by soaking up as much horror as possible and sharing it with my unwitting friends and family. As a teenager I was reading Stephen King, Anne Rice and H. P. Lovecraft while my friends were riding horses and going to proms. I have been bitten by the evil horror bug and succumbed to its venom. Life is much better on the dark side!"

Flunky [Kali]

Flunky has high hopes. Moving her way up the totem pole she hopes to someday rise above mere flunky status. She is going to school to become a film maker. Hoping that someday minion will be showering her with accolades in the movie review section of Horror-Web. Or at least have to sit through her crappy indie film effort. She is often mistaken for the Goddess Kali but oddly enough not because of her name, but because of her extra pair of arms.

FearJunkie [Chris]

I have been a fan of horror since I first saw The Exorcist at roughly 12 years of age. That’s when I first realized the raw emotional turmoil a horror movie was capable of inducing. Not many have come close since, but I’ll never stop watching in anticipation. My love of the genre led to the completion of my own horror novel, which will be released later this summer. When I’m not writing, reading, or watching something scary, I am usually either working my “day job” in Loss Prevention, investigating the paranormal with my wife Melanie and the other members of my paranormal group, or watching my two favorite sports teams, The Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Smart N Deadly [Sara]

Sara J. Larson grew up in Shelbyville, a small Indiana town where she was never more than fifteen minutes (by bicycle) from the corn fields. At IUPUI, she studied Religion and English, and took far too many psych classes. After a brief attempt at journalism, she realized she had no talent for telling the truth and went back to fiction. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband, two dogs and two cats, and spends her days making jewelry and her nights creating monsters.
